Looking for a new friend?  Try out your local no-kill shelters:

Dog & Kitty City is a small but wonderful no-kill shelter near Love Field in Dallas.  As they are small, it is important that they find homes for their dogs and cats as quickly as they can in order to make room for new ones.

Operation Kindness is a larger and very impressive no-kill shelter located in Carrollton.  Stop by and connect with your new best friend.

The DFW Humane Society is a no-kill shelter located in Irving on Valley View near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.  On the other side of the parking lot is the City of Irving Dog Park.

Please visit the Paws in the City website to find out how to adopt or foster a dog or cat in need of a loving home.

Looking for a dog park?  Here you go:

As I mentioned, the City of Irving Dog Park is next door to the DFW Humane Society by the airport.  It’s a very big dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs.

The Coppell Waggin’ Tails Dog Park has been around for only a few months, but it seems to be a big hit with dog owners.  It’s a pretty big park and has separate areas for large and small dogs.

My favorite dog park is NorthBark Dog Park in north Dallas.  It’s huge and has a pond for water dogs.  The dog owners all seem to be pretty good at stopping stopping aggressive behavior and removing dogs that aren’t playing well with others.

♦ The city of Dallas has a dog park information hotline.  Call (214)671-8001 for general information (directions, hours of operation, etc.) about all the dog parks in Dallas.  If it has rained recently, call the hotline to find out if your dog park is closed.  They close when conditions are too muddy.

Kudos to:

Invisible Fence® donated 81 specialized pet oxygen kits to Dallas fire stations.  These kits contain oxygen masks of different sizes designed to fit around an animal’s muzzle.  This should reduce the number of animals that die in house fires.  On behalf of pet owners everywhere, we thank you, Invisible Fence!
